I think it comes down to supply and demand as with everything else. There are tougher filters (interviews) now because there way more people applying for jobs than ever. Even for people with CS degrees the competition is fierce. To most companies especially Big Tech experience matters little they just care that you can pass an interview which includes leetcode and system design, and if you really put the effort you can learn both from scratch without even having any experience. Unfortunately such is the current market.
