- djmips 4y agoI feel they were already obsolete.
- ge96 4y agoSound + laser? Or is it too hot anyway? There was thing I saw someone post, they put particulates in clouds and it ablates the projectile just because it's moving so fast already. This probably makes no sense but I wonder if you can detect the static build up in the atmosphere as it flies using the low orbit constellation satellites... I mean I thought I read it was obvious how to detect them the heat they generate as they fly. Static thing doesn't make sense no contact, perhaps disturbing rf "surface capacitance" on the Earth lol.
- lm28469 4y agoDetecting one was launched is a thing, being able to track it and stop it is another. Apparently they go so fast that it creates a plasma in front of them which make them basically invisible to radars https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plasma_stealth https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plasma_stealth
- ge96 4y agoI wonder what the deal with those metallic/mirror looking F22s was.
- zardo 4y agoI'm not sure it changes the situation. You can go faster and try to evade missile defenses, or just overwhelm them by having a dozen arrive at once.
- alphakilo 4y agoI've wondered this myself. As far as I can tell: they will use conventional ballistic missile defense (with improved/modified operations); lazers; railguns; or hypersonic misses themself The greatest threat is tracking since hypersonic can change course rapidly
