>First, the bacteria. After the recent deaths of at least two infants from a rare infection, the Food and Drug Administration investigated Abbott, a major producer of infant formula, and discovered traces of the pathogen Cronobacter sakazakii in a Michigan plant. As a result, the FDA recalled several brands of formula, and parents were advised to not buy or use some formula tied to the plant.
This is false. https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/abbott-voluntarily-recalls-powder-formulas-manufactured-one-plant https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety...
They voluntarily recalled their products and much later the FDA investigation discovered they weren't at fault for the infections.
>Importantly, no distributed product has tested positive for the presence of either of these bacteria, and we continue to test.
This recall was in February. They have spent 3 months failing to find any problem at Abbott's factory. Yet they remain closed? For months?
Interesting that the US government's media is portraying this as FDA discovering Abbott is at fault and being the ones who recalled? No the FDA has done literally nothing. Keeping the plant closed is a partisan political decision.
