The methodology is not perfect but I think it raises a serious concern. I'm curious what other methodologies for identifying fake/spam accounts might be used. What about likes and retweets? Perhaps Mr. Musks' team did an analysis of their own and saw a high number of potential fakes/bots, and that made them question the authenticity of Twitter's numbers. If it can be shown with some accuracy that Twitter underreported the number of fake/spam accounts, how does this effect Musk's acquisition? Could he lower the price by saying you gave me incorrect data?
