List of territory purchased by a sovereign nation from another sovereign nation
- qiskit 4y agoInteresting list but most of it was before the idea of a nation-state. It was mostly a royal selling a piece of his property to another royal. Spain "selling" the philippines to the US was after losing a war. And louisiana/alaska were royalty selling property that really didn't even belong to them in the first place. It's like me selling your house to my brother. There have been a handful of land sales since 1900 and all of them are tiny tracts of land. Shows that nations don't like parting with their land.
