Having just been through the recruitment hellscape last year the take home tests are absurd. Some companies are asking for whole weekends worth of work before you even get to speak to anyone. Needless to say if a company is asking for an 8 hour take home, you bet your ass they don't respect you as a candidate and won't respect you as an employee. I hoped that if we collectively stopped doing these then they would go away but there are a lot of people who like doing these and believe they are a net positive for some reason.
