I think the author is underestimating the significance of progress that has been made. I'm reading The Age of AI by Eric Schmidt and he establishes the significance of the AI developed anti-biotic Halicin as well as many others. AI is a big deal. I can't help but feel that this is cynicism masquerading as insight, and question the basis upon which the author forms this opinion.
