Air Forces are over-rated. Most of their usefulness has been taken over by missile technology. I won't go so far as to say Air Forces are as obsolete as Carrier Strike Groups are. (For the same reason - missile technology has usurped their raison d'etre.) But Air Forces in general are beginning to get rid of the most vulnerable and weakest link in aircraft - the pilot. The Air Forces of the future will be comprised of drones with their pilots sitting safely back on home soil.
