Wearing a mask doesn't preclude functional facial recognition. There's plenty of data above the mask, and recognition systems are increasingly good at working around mask obstruction.
Also, mask wearing doesn't do anything for other widely applied approaches such as gait analysis, which is fairly common in areas with a national security concern at play, or a lot of money at stake (particular elements of the financial services industry; casinos, etc.).
