San Francisco Police Are Using Driverless Cars as Mobile Surveillance Cameras
- lesuorac 4y ago> It outlines basic procedures such as how to interact with the [autonomous] vehicles (... ”Do not pull vehicles over unless a legitimate law enforcement action exists”) Is that not standard operating procedure? --- W.r.t. Police and cameras I'm not sure the right answer is ban it. At the end of the day private industry is going to record everything so only people with either connections or money are going to get their crimes solved. It'd be much better that these actions were transparent (i.e. who requested video of what location and when is easily available) like Motherboard shouldn't need to ask Waymo how the police are using the data; they should be able to look for themselves.
