I don't see how government reading through personal messages is gonna protect children. From all the possible solutions, this is the most useless and the most unsecure.
- frankharv 4y agoThe line about "Grooming" was also very ambiguous. What is the legal definition of grooming?
- weikju 4y agoIt's a very specific term when referring to this subject matter https://www.rainn.org/news/grooming-know-warning-signs https://www.rainn.org/news/grooming-know-warning-signs > grooming: manipulative behaviors that the abuser uses to gain access to a potential victim, coerce them to agree to the abuse, and reduce the risk of being caught.

- cyborgx7 4y agowhat?
- ycombinator3 4y agoThere is nothing remotely specific about "manipulative behaviors".
- hunterb123 4y agoThat's why it's followed by specifics (...that the abuser uses to gain access to a potential victim, coerce them to agree to the abuse, and reduce the risk of being caught.) Of course taking two words out of the statement without context makes it less specific.
- pessimizer 4y agoNo, it's a retcon. Every kind adult in my life would have retroactively become groomers if they had later molested me. It makes being nice to kids a suspicious act, which is fine for me because kids annoy me, but is not good for kids.
- hunterb123 4y ago> become groomers if they had later molested me. I mean, yes? What would you call it?
- alaricus 4y agoThis has nothing to do with children. It's a typical government power grab.
