We don’t elect “parties” in the USA, we elect people. There’s no mention of political parties in the US constitution nor in most US state constitutions. This is a feature, not a bug.
- Jensson 4y agoYou do effectively elect parties as long as the ballots mentions political party affiliation of each candidate.
- runarberg 4y agoOr as long as political parties are allowed to endorse candidates. Ironically Cuba’s national assembly is the only one I can think of where political parties aren’t allowed to endorse candidates.
- vidarh 4y agoThis is largely fiction, given how large a portion of the electorate will care more about party affiliation than anything else. It's the kind of broken, bad feature thought up by people assuming everyone would be as politically invested as themselves.
