How are US and EU interests not aligned? Germany doesn’t have a military that can defend the country and most of the EU is heavily reliant on the US for its own protection.
- jltsiren 4y agoThat view no longer makes sense. In the past few months, we've learned that Russia did the same as every other European country. It didn't bother maintaining a serious military force. All the real military threats are somewhere far away, and they don't concern the EU.
- herbst 4y agoThis is something appearantly only Americans seem to 'know'. Local versions range from 'we can defend ourself' to 'we won't get ourselfs in a war in 2022', excluding Germany that a historically weird relationship with the US
- kkfx 4y agoHow can Germany be defended against UK and USA? France can, a bit, with a Russian partner. Because there are no friends between countries, just competing interests. Actually USA oppress Germany as UK oppress Italy right after WWII the war they have helped creating to steal our richness, with a large contribution from our citizens, of course. Our sole hope as western Europeans is a French Europe with Russia in the EAEU alliance, with that we can rule back the world, without we can just choose who subjugate us first.
