As someone non-technical, Heroku is what helped me launch my first production site. It was really like magic when I discovered it existed, because I was intimidated by AWS. It's sad reading accounts from employees, seemed like a great place with great product. Hopefully, competitors can match them, what I've read is that they are a bit less mature than them. I actually still have a production site, will need to move off soon.
