  Did Buterin "invent" or merely implement it earlier than others? I've been under the impression Satoshi was the father and inventor of crypto currency.

    Ethereum is different from Bitcoin, which only implements a simple Forth-like stack machine (on purpose). Ethereum's so-called "smart contracts" do appear to be Buterin's unique invention. They're also behind all the scams, errors, and rug pulls that don't happen with Bitcoin because it lacks a technical mechanism for implementing them.
