It's straight up garbage. I watched a single video about abortion because of the recent Roe v Wade news and now all YouTube does is recommend me abortion videos. My strategy is to now use YouTube while logged out. I've used adblock to block all videos on the home page and on the sidebar while watching a video. Also turn autoplay off. I now put in a little extra time and effort to search for things I specifically want to watch instead of looking at any recommendations, but it is kind of worth it... Kind of. Even the search isn't great for finding things though.
