The behavior you're describing exists, but I don't think what you are describing is a minority behavior, generally exhibited by people who often suffer directly from the use of said terminology. I don't condone violence, but anger is understandable in that case. Also, if an idea has some idiotic proponents doesn't mean it's inherently false. Minorities are in the process of gaining cultural power and influence, to the detriment of the majority. This is unpleasant when you are on the receiving side, but IMO necessary right now.
