I'd see your appreciation of Scheme as quite positive! I once had an interview (in Portuguese) where some HR person asked me if I spoke English and seemed to get very upset when I replied that I did. This person started berating me with an angry face: "how would you know??". That was very strange. I can't imagine what was going on in this person's head.
