Elon Musk says Twitter banning Trump was “morally wrong and flat-out stupid”
- f38zf5vdt 4y ago> Musk said his opposition to permanent bans doesn't mean that Twitter under his ownership would never issue suspensions or delete tweets. "That doesn't mean they get to say whatever they want to say," Musk said. "If they say something that is illegal or otherwise just destructive to the world, there should be perhaps a timeout, a temporary suspension, or that particular tweet should be made invisible or have very limited traction. But I think permanent bans just fundamentally undermine trust in Twitter as a town square where everyone can voice their opinion." Elon Musk: free speech warrior against perma-bans, but for shadow bans, temp-bans, throttling, and selective censorship.
- polski-g 4y agoHe is in favor of all speech except that which he is mandated by law to remove. Not a complicated concept to understand.
- netizen-936824 4y ago>illegal or otherwise just destructive to the world Emphasis mine, that word "or" is pretty important. In this context, it means that twitter will remove things they are not compelled to by law as long as they (twitter) feels that the statement is sufficiently "destructive" (whatever that means)
