I mentally set the bar pretty low before I clicked the link, but this was a lot worse than I expected. Holograms are notoriously difficult to implement in a pleasing or large format, this was neither.
The Instructable takes a video of something filmed from 4 different angles, and then uses a slightly reflective material (plastic sheeting) to reflect the 4 images off a screen around a central point.
In almost total darkness you can then view the resulting 'hologram'. Except it's just 4 2D images around a messy piece of plastic sitting on your phone/tablet screen. At no point is there even an illusion of a 3D hologram. Perhaps if you were locked to 1 of 4 different viewing angles and no degrees between you could call it a hologram, but even then with 2 eyes you'd know each angle was 2D.
