Why do people enjoy reading these types of stories so much?
- paganel 4y agoI personally didn't enjoy it, I post it more as a sign that, maybe, the powers that be (SEC? some other institution) will, somehow, intervene. People killing themselves because of financial losses that could have been prevented had some prior regulations had been in place does not look good for those institutions I mentioned (SEC and the others). Or maybe the people at those institutions (and the people supporting the people at those institutions) just don't care anymore about this type of events and about how it reflects on the whole "ecosystem".
- rmbyrro 4y agoI don't think regulation alone will solve it. Let's not forget the massive Madoff ponzi scheme in a highly regulated space...
- harambae 4y agoSomeone on HN pointed out recently that a lot more Madoff ponzi money was recovered than one might expect. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recovery_of_funds_from_the_Madoff_investment_scandal https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recovery_of_funds_from_the_Mad...
- rmbyrro 4y agoIt doesn't require regulation to recover funds from fraudsters. [1] I have the opinion that a higher likelihood of getting caught and facing prison would be more effective than regulators that can sometimes be easily tricked for years.
