That story just leaves me dumb-founded.
> Asked where she gets her news, Donna Downes says, "I don't really watch a news broadcast," she says. "I just do a lot of research, and people that I trust, that feel the same way I do, I follow.
“I only listen to people that agree with me.”
> "We don't like vaccines because we feel like if we live healthy ... we have more immunity,"
“I’m immune against this novel new virus that has never infected a human before.”
> In the survey, 56 percent of Republicans and 92 percent of Democrats said they'd been vaccinated.
A cynic sees a silver lining in this stat.
> “I think there's malevolent stuff in it that has to do with nanotech and transhumanism and the internet-of-things making people — eventually with 6G which is coming after the 5G — where you're biologically tuned into the internet at all times”
Without a strong education system, the US will not remain competitive in the development of technology. I guess these people will be useful as consumers and physical labourers.
It’s a sad state of affairs.
- jfengel 4y agoThe education system can't fix stupid. Such a person has gone down a rabbit-hole of paranoia that they'll never climb up from. And you couldn't prevent them from jumping into it in the first place. They clearly embraced it wholeheartedly and enthusiastically. Fixing that is going to go way beyond education. It has to come from a place where half the comments on this HN article aren't "This proves that Fauci was lying to us all along". We have a deep-seated hatred of each other that has become self-sustaining: even without prodding from ideologues people will just invent it for each other.
