Whoever is behind this they were seeing religion very clearly, so I fail to see how your characterization of "European" liberalism applies. The second paragraph of your post makes me think you're trying to shoe-horn something else into this discussion. The European country I live in certainly has such laws. Can you name names? (Naturally, I'm not blind to this not preventing such discrimination; I have lived and worked in 5 European countries so far.)
