Frankly, after seeing the usual establishment media types cry out they need to control media and general comms, and factoring in how much misinformation they have put out there, I am eager to see what Musk ends up showing us.
I am not saying Musk is right, or will be better, or anything of the kind. No one can know. We shall see.
I am saying having this play out is very high value.

We already know what it looks like, we've seen it countless times already on 4chan, Reddit, Parler, Gab, etc. Lack of moderation doesn't lead to greater quality or in-depth intellectual discussion, it doesn't reveal truths suppressed by the establishment, it just creates a cesspool of harassment, trolling and crackpottery. But sure, let's run the experiment again and maybe this time the results will be different.
- ddingus 4y agoMusk getting hold of Twitter is great! And you saying it is the same experiment is part of why. It is not at all the same. So yeah, let's continue. All those things you mention are still happening. Every day. It is all about who gets to do it and why. I expect to see those things highlighted soon and when they are, we can have this talk. It may have a lot more value too.
