Tech giants lost more than $1T in value in the last 3 trading days
- Bubble_Pop_22 4y agoIt's like a puryfing rain to wash away all the financial sins of the past 13 years.
- akomtu 4y agoPension funds dumping their tech investments?
- toomuchtodo 4y agoSector rotation based on the macro. Capital fleeing to asset classes with more favorable risk adjusted returns in a rising interest rate (with possible stagflation) environment.
- mgh2 4y ago> Capital fleeing to asset classes with more favorable risk adjusted returns in a rising interest rate Which markets, care to ellaborate?
- leet_thow 4y agoEnergy, Consumer Staples and Utilities from my research.
- toomuchtodo 4y agoAlso commodities.
- abraxas 4y agoWouldn't utilities (famous for their large dividend distributions) get creamed in a rising interest rate environment?
- toomuchtodo 4y agoElectricity and gas are typically non discretionary spending.
- abraxas 4y agoNo question but utilities' distributions have to compete with higher treasury yields so that would be pushing downwards pressure on their prices. Actually in a tight money environment I don't really think there is a place to hide. Bonds and stocks are both likely to decline across the board. Cash and gold might be the best refuge.
- nojito 4y agoLooks like the bubble is finally popping.
- username3 4y agoIt’s not a bubble. This is seasonal. > “Sell in May and go away” is an old Wall Street saying that suggests investors sell their stocks during the summer to avoid a seasonal decline in the stock market.
- daniel-cussen 4y agoI heard an economist say exactly what you wrote, that there's always a seasonal dip in the prices of stocks at a certain time of the year, it's expected. Bullshit. There are no seasonal drops in stocks, the only season is bull season or bear season.
- mgh2 4y agoIt is more like media and the elite manipulate public's perception and sentiment to profit from fluctuations.
- daniel-cussen 4y agoThey barely make it work on their balance sheet. And risk adjusted? Those media manipulators get fucked. Everyone's getting fucked in this bear market. Well there's survivors, the cockroaches, literally the cockroaches in apartment buildings are have a bright future, whereas the tenants might get shuffled around, musical chairs with empty apartments getting taken out of circulation, like chairs in that brutally honest game.
- rco8786 4y agoPretty sure this holds no water if you observe past trend lines. Even if it did, the %s being lost right right are significantly higher than in any recent year. But hey, it rhymes.
- penner_im_auto 4y ago> Investors now have less interest in what drove business during a strong bull market in recent years, including during the pandemic, and are now pushing more money toward safer pockets of the market > Apple, the world's most valuable public company, has shed $220 billion in value since the close of trading on Wednesday
- kurupt213 4y agoThe valuation was never rooted in reality. Are the price/sales ratio back down to reasonable yet?
