One factor to consider is that coastal California cities currently pipe in a huge amount of their water from distant locations. If they ramped up desalination it would lower the overall amount of water travel by quite a bit.
- ceeplusplus 4y agoCoastal California cities are also anti-local power generation and anti-nuclear, which means the cost of desalinating billions of gallons of water is going to be through the roof. Our electricity cost is double-triple that of places like NYC and Chicago.
