The water authority in Southern Nevada recently authorized 800,000 new housing connections. So one of the organizations that should be managing the water emergency is actively making it worse. The problem is that they make a lot more money on new connections than serving existing ones. So existing residents are (correctly) being told to restrict water, but then the same people saying that are turning around and greatly exacerbating the problem.
