I was thinking about writing a post apocalyptic novel a couple years back where a Russian hacking group manages to breach the John Deer network and take down every machine in the USA with an OTA update. The main character was trying to escape from San Francisco on a bicycle because all the gas dried up after a chain reaction of "Just in Time" supply shortages and California had banned private vehicles.
