- mcdetro 4y agoThat's actually a great comparison. Believing you're possessed by demons is simply a belief with no grounds in reality, same as believing you should be the opposite sex. Yet people still try exorcisms to alleviate the former, and hormone supplements and surgery for the latter, despite their futility in actually doing what is intended. But it does usually make them feel better anyway, at least in the context of the delusion.

- mcdetro 4y agoSo what if it's mosaic? Consider another non-reproductive measurement: men tend to be taller than women. That does not mean that tall women have 'male height'. Same principle applies for variations in neural microstructure.

It does make some sense, there is a large part of the world where this stuff supposedly occurs. And even if you don't believe it's possession, there is certainly something causing them mental trauma and telling him their illness is illogical doesn't help
