Adding Side Effects to Spreadsheets (2019)
- jbjbjbjb 4y agoFinance firms do use three of the four side effects on the Excel spreadsheet. It’s not the most accessible feature but it is there and easily added with the Excel API. In fact all four are achievable.
- occamrazor 4y agoAll of these side effects are easily implemented in Excel with VBA and financial companies use them all the time. What is Notion trying to accomplish, by grossly mischaracterizing the capabilities of spreadsheets?
- jackdh 4y agoI don't think there would be anything malicious here. It's likely they've just been looking into how to add more side effects to their tables and an engineer has jotted down their findings and made them public. One note on this site, it's very hard to tell the source of it the author. Is it an official blog? Who wrote it? Is this an external Notion user or internal?
