They graduated in the recession? Really? I think the author needs to double-check what Generation X is.
From Wikipedia:
>>Generation X, commonly abbreviated to Gen X, is the generation born after the Western post–World War II baby boom ended.[1] While there is no universally agreed upon time frame,[2] the term generally includes people born in the 1960s through the late '70s.

- harshpotatoes 15y agoI assumed he was referring to the large recession in the early 80's. Which would be about 20 years after the 60's.
- jfruh 15y agoI think he's talking about the (relatively mild) early '90s recession. The core of Gen X are people born in the late 60s and early 70s -- people who would have been entering the workforce in the early '90s.
- hugh3 15y agoWhichever recession you're talking about, they only lasted a couple of years each (at most) so there's no way an entire generation could have graduated into one of 'em.
- adestefan 15y agoThe NASDAQ crash of 2000 put a big damper on the employment of tech workers. If you were in this field at that time things sucked. That's when most of us ended up in graduate schools.
