Inner cities are the best places to raise children by a country mile
- Geonode 4y agoWow that's a window into pure insanity. But it isn't, is it? It's a political propaganda flyer letting people destress over their choices.
- xedrac 4y agoI couldn't disagree more with the general premise. Not a day goes by that I don't wish I had more land and space to grow things, raise animals, and let my kids play and explore their world. Clean air, less noise, more nature, and slower pace of life. Kids need boredom from time to time. It is an important ingredient to fostering creativity. Yes, it's important to be exposed to a diverse set of people and ideas. But let's not pretend that's the most important thing in life. TV and internet can expose kids quite easily to am awful lot.

- rayiner 4y agoI love the subcaption: “Remote Scottish islands and monocultural English villages lack … nourishing racial diversity and cultural richness.” I guess kids being raised virtually anywhere in Asia, the Middle East, or Africa, are missing out on all that “nourish[ment].” Wouldn’t want to raise your kids in Tokyo, or Seoul, or Beijing, or Calcutta, or Cairo, or Tel Aviv, etc. It’s amusing to see multiculturalism morph into its own form of white supremacy. (Multiculturalism, of course, being a concept embraces primarily by European and specifically by Anglo societies.)
- aeternum 4y agoRidiculous arguments, children don't need to live in the city to go to the museum in the city.
- xyzzyz 4y ago> I have no idea why anyone in their right mind would want to raise children in any of these places, so cut off from the rest of the world that the children would be largely socialised by livestock. Ah yes, that's why pre-20th century America was such a failure: most people at the time grew up on farms, typically more remote ones than people back in Europe (because people owned bigger plots of land). Imagine the horror of growing up around farm animals -- can there be anything less natural?
- t-3 4y agoAren't inner cities in Europe the rich parts? Of course it's nice there...
- midislack 4y agoThey are begging - pleading people to stay in the expensive, crime ridden, and increasingly irrelevant cities. I can only guess some national association of landlords paid for this piece.
