  Drug prohibitions are a fairly recent innovation. None were present at the USA’s founding. Washington and Jefferson exchanged cannabis seeds. Up until recently, your backyard meth lab would have gotten you beat up by your neighbors if you were a public nuisance, otherwise outside of what the law would care about. Taxing it to the point where only the well-enough-off can afford it would be the middle ground, if you can’t maintain your lifestyle because you the things you do to yourself affect your ability, then you lose access. Restricting what an adult can do to themselves is a real intellectual inconsistency for a “constitutional” conservative.
