The Odd Lots podcast from Bloomberg just did an episode on the Foreign Dredge Act. As a Houstonian, I was shocked to learn that the Port of Houston is being hobbled by our inability to dredge properly, limiting container vessels to once a week, and slowing down oil tanker shipments. There is currently only one narrow lane that is dredged, and opening a second lane would improve traffic flow quadratically.
