I have come to the same conclusion. More than likely we’ll know about other civilizations not from radio waves but from either a celestial event they have created or by them visiting us (and letting us know). Searching for radio waves is like digging for celestial dinosaurs without a shovel. Just hoping there’s a fossil on the top soil.
