I don't think it is hard, nor do I think basic Rust has a steep learning curve. I understand someone with pre-knowledge from 20 years of grinding C++ having maybe hard time learning it since the compiler would just error when you try to do some common C++ things. But as a beginner, I picked it up as my second language in 2020 after like 1 month of JS. Wasn't particularly hard to learn it as a new programmer. For me, Erlang / Elixir is probably the lang I'll never be able to learn. Brain just goes off when I read the code / docs.
