Here is a typical day at work for me:
* Contracting HR texts me to ask how my day is going
* Hanging up on recruiter cold calls
* Filling out hours in seven different time tracking systems
* Participating in meetings about how 'nothing gets done'
* Mandatory team building exercise
* Write one line of correct code
* Spend three hours explaining why the manager's nephew's topology would not succeed
* Witness disagreement between CTO, tech lead about basic project requirements
* Wait four hours for code review
* Ten minute lunch break (during meetings)
* Troubleshoot some critical HR website not working
* Complete three security quizzes which are really just unskippable films with misleading network security advice
* Participate in "Agile" best practices meeting
* Participate in two-year Gantt chart meeting
* Attend meetings with no specific agenda
* Smile and nod while an egghead waxes lyrical about why they refuse to apply security patches from 1992
With the obsession with "data driven business", I'm not surprised nothing gets done.
