This is a heuristic at best, but Ive learned to be skeptical of moral/ethical stances that allow their holder to have their cake and eat it too. Notable examples include: - divine providence and it’s relation to material success - business shouldn’t concern itself with ethics - charitable donations are best treated as a business investment I admit to being surprised that anyone truly, deeply believes any of this. They just ooze of starting from the desired conclusion and working backwards.
