IIRC we pay 33% after 70k NZD ish. Usually people opt into KiwiSaver (3~6%) and fair bit also goes out into paying their student loan.

- dx034 4y agoIn many European countries university is either free or nearly free, so you'd have to add that to the tax burden to make it comparable to Europe.
