50th Anniversary Celebration of Close to the Edge
- jleyank 4y agoPretty much totally orthogonal to HN, especially as I don't think Prog has managed to hold the interest of hackers for decades. But it's pretty impressive that an album is still recognized 50 years on and that most of the band members are still with us to play on it (or at least talk about it, BB). Complex, pompous, overblown, ... all of this is true about Prog, but The Yes Album, Fragile and Close to the Edge (along with same-time work from Genesis, ELP and others) were a memorable, enjoyable opus that had some amazing stage shows that featured technical prowess. Music has not moved on technically since this. But man, you had to be stoned out of your mind to dance to it...
