I had this happen to me, but I think it hit a phone line (back in the ADSL days) - and it caught more components then I initial thought, the ones that went under the radar were the RAMs. The symptom was decompressing RAR files, sometimes it would give errors. The HDD also started to act oddly, so you should probably run some tests to see if everything is ok.
