> whatever the ultimate nature of reality may turn out to be, it's completely different from how it seems. Hey, it's one of those high-dopamine "ideas, by idea-extroverts" sites! The kind that crank the mental air-vents way open. These are a favorite topic of mine. Some others I've enjoyed... https://www.constructingtheuniverse.com/ https://www.constructingtheuniverse.com/ https://www.kleinbottle.com/ https://www.kleinbottle.com/ https://sprott.physics.wisc.edu/pickover/home.htm https://sprott.physics.wisc.edu/pickover/home.htm Related archetypes: Mad scientist, eccentric atomic bomb scientist, renegade scientist, time lord / Doctor Who, neighborhood scientist / Doc from BTTF, Gender Stereotype-breaking Swedish Engineering Youtuber, modern egyptologist, modern shortwave radio host, etc. I do prefer the ones that go a bit more eccentric and become say, _right historic_, merging with the personas of yesteryear while performing impressive feats of domain expertise. Examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6zoOUs77N4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6zoOUs77N4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDPNxz3WXTk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDPNxz3WXTk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbOfvkWI-OY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbOfvkWI-OY Blend in a bit of the supernatural, you get your Rupert Sheldrakes, your Jacques Vallée. Opening new mental venues in the face of all that the institutions of our time consider holy. "Fractals! Nature! It's all around us and we're doomed to a life of _endless connections_! Did you know, that back in the year..." Fun to take it all in. (BTW you can often spot the more introverted, but still highly-imaginative members of this societal cadre by looking out for the newsboy cap, a popular accessory in this zone of personal psychology [1][2]) Thanks for posting op! 1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Weir https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Weir 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_R._R._Martin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_R._R._Martin
