Show HN: I built a site that summarizes articles and PDFs using NLP
- jlaneve 4y agoLooks super cool. What kind of NLP?
- alexrpreston 4y agoIt uses a variety of extractive text summarization algorithms. The backend is built out using the Python package Sumy, which performs some of the NLP.

- dmje 4y agoReally nice. Minor UI / marketing suggestion - set the summary size somewhere in the middle for the initial summary rather than right at the bottom. This would allow the user to see a shorter version but not the really cropped one which feels a bit too much at first pass.
- alexrpreston 4y agoThank you! That's actually super solid advice. Cheers.
- aman_jha 4y agoThis is really nice, really fast. I would love to have more examples on the site itself to try. Had a hard time finding "Test example" so maybe make that more prominent, I feel like that's the first thing anyone's gonna want to do
- jacobn 4y agoNeat site! Random suggestion: how about taking a text source and turning it into an expandable, nested bullet list? So it would take the long text, bulletize the main points, and then you can tap to expand any of them to see the details, recursively. Just a thought…
- Oras 4y agoNice work! I wonder if you're going the same challenges that gensim had for being generic in summarization. For context: > Despite its general-sounding name, the module will not satisfy the majority of use cases in production and is likely to waste people's time. https://github.com/RaRe-Technologies/gensim/wiki/Migrating-from-Gensim-3.x-to-4#12-removed-gensimsummarization https://github.com/RaRe-Technologies/gensim/wiki/Migrating-f...
