FWIW - if you buy a Hue bulb today (Bluetooth connected) it functions as a normal bulb. Turning it off and on again at the switch or lamp will restart it as if it were a normal bulb. If it's a color change bulb it restarts as a white light.
- Phrodo_00 4y agoNitpicky comment, but only newer Hue bulbs are bluetooth, all of them use Zigbee
- methyl 4y agoyes, the problem is that if you turn the switch off, you cannot turn it back on without physically flipping the switch
- happyopossum 4y ago> If it's a color change bulb it restarts as a white light. That's actually configurable, since a 100% bright white light isn't always what you want.
- JamesSwift 4y agoIs it? I've never seen that option. Is it part of a newer bridge/firmware?
- akvadrako 4y agoIt might require 3rd party apps like iconnecthue to configure, but it's been supported for many years on the bulbs.
- danielsju6 4y agoGo to the bulb settings itself, "power on behavior".
