Ask HN: S: Thinking of moving to Florida or Texas? What city and why?
- waynecochran 4y agoI seem to have a whole host of friends moving to Tampa. Tennessee too. It’s getting a little nutty in the Pacific Northwest.
- IfOnlyYouKnew 4y agoYou're a bit late to the party. People are starting to leave Florida: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/florida-least-affordable-state-us-miami-tampa-orlando-naples-rent/ https://www.cbsnews.com/news/florida-least-affordable-state-...
- gamechangr 4y agoThat sure doesn't feel right. I went to Orlando and Tampa last month and found them very affordable. My friend lives here: https://www.apartmentfinder.com/Florida/Tampa-Apartments/Oak-Chase-II-Apartments-m9qq1xj https://www.apartmentfinder.com/Florida/Tampa-Apartments/Oak... I saw a 2 bedroom condo was $1,300 2 miles from the beach in Clearwater. I do know that Miami is now pretty unaffordable. I know nothing about the other places mentioned in the article (naples)
- fivelessminutes 4y agoSoon people saying they're 'underwater' on their apartment will take on a new literal meaning in Miami.
- eesmith 4y agoYour source says "Florida's population is growing faster than any state but Texas".
- scarface74 4y agoWe are buying a vacation home in Florida while we travel the country for a few years and stay in AirBnb’s while I work remotely. The rest of the time it will be a rented out for short term rentals. It’s going to be our official home and where we stay in the winter. It’s strictly because it’s a tax free state and warm. When we decide to settle down, we may move back to our current home - which will also be rented out - or sell and move to Florida permanently.
