Unsure about others experience but from an engineering perspective using tooling like exalidraw or miro we're able to brainstorm much more effectively than just a single whiteboard along with being able to have everyone contribute. What I find often is that there's TOO many people in a meeting that aren't needed for the brainstorming sessions and essentially don't contribute to the meeting.
