I recently took a new job after posting to a "who wants to be hired". They had previously posted the position on "who's hiring" thread, but they did not list remote-only as a possibility. If they had, I would have applied sooner, but they probably did not want to offer that to just anyone. If you have a unique set of skills that are in high demand, I recommend putting yourself out there. Be sure to use an anonymous forwarder that you can later disable, as I also received a fair amount of spam during the window between posting and getting hired.
