  > Dell does indeed hold patents on the CAMM design and there will be royalties, but the company says it’s too early to discuss royalties. Not too early to start making alternatives! Im very curious about the compression mount contacts. There's a ton of connections needed, so this is hard, but it looks like about 20% of the footprint is connector. Maybe it looks more reasonable in person. But to see an dense ram module like this & then see such a large % of space taken up by connectors is unusual. That said, doubling so-dimm's pin count was bound tp be difficult.

  > Dell’s new memory design isn’t really proprietary and may actually lead to benefits for performance laptops. So did making apple devices basically impossible to upgrade.
