"We began our examination by cutting out a 10-micrometer-wide cylinder from the G3260." "A high-resolution (19-nm) scan..." I am dumbfounded by their resolution. I would love to take 3D x-ray scans at 10-micrometer resolution!
- habi 4y agoTaking 3D x-ray scans with 10 μm voxel size is achievable fairly easy [1]. I work with (desktop) microCT scanners and routinely image (biomedical) things with a voxel size of 1 μm. The voxel size in the linked publication is 19 nm, which is ~50 times (!) smaller than 1 μm, a mind-blowing resolution. (Even for me, which had the pleasure to meet Gabriel Aeppli in person as part of my PostDoc at the institution where he works.) [1]: If you have access to the machines.
