Moved from Gmail to Fastmail in 2016, and it's been an absolute joy since. To me, it's a shocker people would pay for Gmail: If they're going to pay, why not get a mail service that is actually good? A big thing Fastmail didn't support when I first signed up that they do now is mixed tiers of users, so you can having those really cheap additional accounts for the kids, even if you need a beefier plan for yourself.
